About Tensar, a Division of CMC Tensar and Geopier offer engineered solutions that are proven to predictably and cost-effectively lower up-front construction and maintenance costs of rail tracks. Tensar uses InterAx® geogrid technology to reduce the required trackbed thickness and speed construction, saving up to $30,000 per linear mile of track. Geogrid stabilized sub-ballast and ballast layers have been proven to extend the period between maintenance operations by a factor of three to five times. Track subgrade maintenance problems caused by soft and wet soils can be mitigated without removing track, ties, or ballast with GeoSpike® ground improvement system by Geopier®. This turn-key system creates rigid load transfer elements that bypass weak subgrade soils that can be installed without lengthy track closures.
