About
About ASHA Academic-Research-International Lounge Welcome to the Academic-Research-International Lounge! We have information, resources, and opportunities to share about academic and clinical education, the accreditation of academic programs in communication sciences and disorders, faculty-researcher career development, and ASHA international programs that strengthen capacity, engagement, and affiliation to address communication disorders globally. ASHA's Academic Affairs and Research Education (AARE) team offers several research education, mentoring, and award programs that support and advance academic and research careers in communication sciences and disorders (CSD). AARE administers the CSD Education Survey, publishes data on CSD education, and develops resources to promote interprofessional education, collaborative practice, diversity, equity, and inclusion in academia. Information and opportunities are available throughout the CSD education trajectory for undergraduate students, clinical graduate students in audiology and speech-language pathology, research doctoral students, and early- and mid-career faculty in CSD. Visit our booth onsite or contact us at academicaffairs@asha.org. ASHA's International Programs team invites you to learn about ASHA's international programs! Find out more about the International Affiliates program and new modifications to eligibility; ASHA's international initiatives and programs; ASHA's collaboration with the World Health Organization and, in particular, with the Pan American Health Organization; and how joining Special Interest Group 17 (Global Issues in Communication Sciences and Related Disorders) can extend your learning help you connect with other members who have an interest in international issues. The Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) will have staff representatives at the booth to address your program's accreditation questions! Have questions about preparing for an upcoming site visit? Do you want to know the process of applying for programmatic accreditation? Stop by! The CAA offers voluntary accreditation to graduate programs that offer the first professional degree in audiology and speech-language pathology. The CAA is the entity within ASHA that has the sole authority to establish and enforce standards for the accreditation of graduate education programs for the professions.
