Myocardial infarction, also known as heart attack, is one of the biggest causes of death around the world. But its diagnosis requires, along with electrocardiogram, a blood test to measure a biomarker, called troponin. Nowadays it takes from 1 to 5 hours to measure troponin at laboratories, and half of the deaths by infarction happens inside hospital, while the patient is waiting for these results.
