Dharma is a preclinical-stage biotech company developing RNA-based therapeutics to transform the treatment of knee osteoarthritis (OA), a chronic, disabling condition that affects over 600 million people globally. Our lead product is a first-in-class injectable therapy based on engineered microRNAs (miRNAs), designed to reprogram gene expression in joint tissues and restore function at the molecular level. Unlike current treatments that only alleviate symptoms, our approach targets the biological causes of cartilage degradation, aiming to regenerate tissue and slow or reverse disease progression. Knee osteoarthritis remains one of the largest unmet medical needs in musculoskeletal care. Existing therapies are limited to pain management or joint replacement surgery, with no disease-modifying solutions currently available. Dharma addresses this gap by developing a locally delivered, non-viral, non-surgical treatment that combines efficacy, safety, and scalability. Our engineered miRNAs modulate key inflammatory and degenerative pathways in chondrocytes and synovial cells, offering a targeted therapeutic strategy with minimal systemic exposure. Our preclinical program, conducted in collaboration with leading research institutions in Latin America, has demonstrated promising results in animal models, including reduced inflammation, improved mobility, and signs of cartilage regeneration. The treatment has shown a strong safety profile and is progressing through IND-enabling studies in accordance with FDA guidelines. Our first-in-human clinical trial will focus on patients with moderate knee OA, with the objective of demonstrating safety and early efficacy. Dharma’s platform has the potential to extend beyond osteoarthritis. Because microRNAs are modular and programmable, the technology may be adapted to treat other degenerative, inflammatory, or fibrotic conditions, including tendinopathies, rheumatoid arthritis, and organ fibrosis. The local delivery strategy and synthetic design of our molecules allow for high precision, avoiding many of the risks associated with systemic or viral-based gene therapies. Our business model is focused on advancing the osteoarthritis program to early clinical proof of concept and forming strategic partnerships for late-stage development and commercialization. We are building a robust intellectual property portfolio across key markets and working with world-class research and clinical institutions to streamline development, regulatory approval, and future scale-up.
