About
About Van Berkel International, SRL Proudly made in Italy, since 1949. OMAS (VBI) is a leader in the food service equipment industry with Italian craftsmanship, innovation, and sophisticated precision. Rooted in over 75 years of expertise, we proudly honor our Italian heritage through exceptional design and performance. Driven by the dedication of our Italian designers, foundry workers, and assemblers, our in-house production process ensures unparalleled quality across our portfolio. With a curated selection of commercial food service equipment, we offer: Volano/Flywheel slicers, electric slicers, and food processing solutions. Our Volano slicers provide precise, manual control for effortless slicing, preserving the authentic flavors of cured meats. Complementing these are our electric slicers, designed for efficiency and ideal for high-demand kitchens. Each piece reflects our commitment to exceptional performance, tailored to suit a variety of environments. As operator expectations rise, we offer a blend of performance and stunning design. In the backstage, our electric slicers and other equipment streamline operations with precision and reliability. But it's our front-stage pieces, like the elegant Volano slicers, that truly captivate—bringing a touch of luxury to every dish. With a focus on quality, fair pricing, and after-sale support, we are here to empower operators and deliver unforgettable experiences. 1950s: OMAS AND THE CLASSIC S9, THE FIRST FLYWHEEL SLICER In 1950, Carlo Rabolli and his associates founded OMAS SNC, blending the region’s tradition of balance production with the innovative idea of creating slicers. Carlo's entrepreneurial foresight led to the design of the S9 model, marking the first flywheel slicer in the area. THE 1960s BOOM During the 1960s, Walter Rabolli joined OMAS, propelling the company into global markets, including the Far East and Australia by 1962. To maintain quality amidst growing demand, Walter established an aluminum foundry in 1964, a vital asset still integral to OMAS operations today. 1970s-1990s: OMAS SETS ITSELF APART FROM THE MARKET OMAS dominated the competitive food machinery industry of the 1970s and 1980s by introducing innovations like the automatic slicer. In response to 1990s European safety regulations, OMAS advanced its designs, ensuring safety, easy maintenance, and adherence to its high-quality standards. TODAY: CONSTANT RESEARCH, TECHNICAL IMPROVEMENT AND COMPLETELY MONITORED PRODUCTION OMAS combines seven decades of craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology to meet specific customer demands and ensure premium quality. By overseeing every production stage in-house, OMAS delivers machines that embody its commitment to innovation, tradition, and unmatched excellence. Proudly made in Italy, since 1949.
