Thomson Company, Inc. was founded in 1981 by Loronzo H. “Ronnie” Thomson in Macon, Georgia, with a clear mission: to manufacture the highest-quality precision CNC machined parts for the aerospace industry. Built on a foundation of engineering excellence, safety, and consistency, the company quickly earned a reputation for uncompromising quality and reliability. In the mid-1990s, Ronnie applied his aerospace engineering expertise to a personal project—designing a one-piece bicycle seatpost for his daughter, then a collegiate mountain bike racer. That project became the patented Thomson Elite seatpost, a product that redefined industry standards by bringing aerospace-grade materials, machining, and testing into cycling. The Elite seatpost’s success inspired the development of the Masterpiece seatpost and marked the beginning of Thomson’s lasting influence in the bicycle component world. As the company evolved, the next generation joined the effort. Ronnie’s son, Brian Thomson, helped co-design a growing range of precision stems, seatpost collars, and additional components. Today, Thomson offers a complete lineup of premium bicycle products, including advanced carbon fiber handlebars, stems, titanium components, and bicycle frames—all designed and manufactured with the same attention to detail that defines their aerospace work. Despite its expansion into cycling, L.H. Thomson remains, at its core, an aerospace manufacturer. The company operates under AS9100 aerospace certification, reflecting a zero-tolerance approach to error.
