About SUU Aviation & Iron County Sheriff's Air Operations SUU Aviation specializes in helicopter pilot and aircraft maintenance technician training. The helicopter program takes pilots from zero experience through CFII with a degree in as little as 2 years while the AMT program takes technicians from no experience through both A&P certifications with helicopter emphasis and a degree in as little as 18 months. SUU Aviation also offers advanced pilot courses in longline, NVG, mountainous terrain, and law enforcement training with a fleet of Bell 407, 206, 505 and Robinson R44 Raven’s.
