About Plane Connection Plane Connection began with a simple realization: logbooks don't tell you if a pilot is truly capable. While conducting Part 91 flight training, our founder — a Boeing 747 Captain and Human Factors instructor at Atlas Air — recognized that traditional metrics like QPs and completion standards capture only a fraction of what makes a pilot safe. Years of teaching human factors and analyzing SMS data revealed where pilots succeed and where legacy training systems fall short. That insight became Smart Score: a comprehensive risk assessment using 500+ data points to standardize the understanding of pilot capabilities in real time. Smart Score integrates with Ali (Aviation Logistics Intelligence), an AI assistant that helps pilots and operators identify and mitigate risk before it becomes an incident. Built on FAA Human Factors principles and Navy HFACS methodology, the platform includes full SMS compliance for the May 2027 mandate, plus TieDown for complete flight department and FBO management. The Problem We Solved: Operators juggling fragmented software systems that don't communicate — at costs that crush small Part 135 operations. Our solution: one integrated platform, zero software cost, 2% transaction fee passed to customers. Already Operational: GB Airlink (Part 135) and Turner's Marina (FBO).
