About Kaneka Green Planet About Kaneka Green Planet Kaneka Green Planet® compound is a 100% biobased PHA biopolymer produced via a revolutionary bio-fermentation process using renewable plant oils as feedstock. Kaneka Green Planet® compounds can replace common plastic products such as plates, straws, cups, cutlery, film, pouches, or any other single-use items. Our compound grades can be used in traditional extrusion, injection molding, and blown film applications. Kaneka Green Planet® PHBH compounds are bio-based, strongly resistant to heat, and can act as a barrier to water vapor. Kaneka Green Planet® compound grades are stable under everyday usage conditions. When no longer needed, and given the right conditions under either aerobic, anaerobic, or marine conditions in the natural environment, they will begin to degrade and will convert back into nature. Kaneka Green Planet is a division of Houston based Kaneka Americas Holding, Inc.. Kaneka Green Planet manufactures a new and unique PHA biopolymer called Green Planet PHBH™ is a plant-based biopolymer that offers both flexibility and heat resistance. Kaneka Green Planet PHBH™ is produced via a novel bio-fermentation process which uses renewable plant oils as feed stock. Kaneka Green Planet PHBH™ is not only bio-based and bio-compostable in aerobic, anaerobic, or marine environments, it is also strongly resistant to heat and can act as a barrier to water vapor. Our grades are stable under everyday usage conditions but provided the right conditions, under either anaerobic, aerobic, or marine conditions in the natural environment, the product will begin to biodegrade and will return back to nature. Kaneka Green Planet Resins have been granted Food Contact Approval by the FDA and is suitable for all food packaging products. It can be formed into many products such as cups, cutlery, food trays, plates, pouches, film, straws, packaging material, and can replace most single use plastic products.
