Our D3® Design Driven Development™ process is a cross-functional, design-led approach consisting of seven distinct phases. Each phase concludes with a “phase gate,” where critical go or no-go decisions determine readiness to move forward, ensuring alignment, efficiency, and momentum throughout development. D3® is always executed in close collaboration with our clients: Evaluation – We learn your technology, business objectives, and constraints to establish a strong foundation. Discovery – We gather key inputs, define user needs, and establish a clear product realization strategy. Ideation – We generate divergent-thinking solutions that explore usability, efficacy, and design language, expanding the range of possible directions. Design – We refine selected concepts into tangible solutions, developing early feasibility models and progressing toward an Alpha prototype. This phase includes human factors evaluation, hand-sculpted form exploration, CAD modeling, rapid 3D prototyping, embedded systems and firmware development, and formative HFE studies. We continuously refine risk analysis and mitigation plans while evaluating manufacturing approaches to set the product up for success. Engineering – We advance the Alpha prototype into a manufacturable solution. This includes design for manufacturability (DFM), engineering validation testing, and final DFMEA. In some cases, we develop an Alpha II prototype incorporating refinements from this phase. This stage ensures the product is robust, scalable, and ready for production. Tech Transfer – We compile and deliver detailed specifications, documentation, and engineering outputs to enable a smooth and successful transition to your contract manufacturer. Support – If desired, we remain engaged to collaborate with your team and CM, guiding verification and validation activities and serving as an advocate for quality and accurate interpretation of product specifications. Throughout every phase, Kablooe integrates ISO 13485-certified product realization processes, ensuring a disciplined, compliant, and experienced approach to medical device development.
