Their products include spice bars, joint bars, rail clips, crane rail bars, crane stops, compromise, and transition bars, etc. All of the products are proudly made in the USA, and complement the line of industrial crane wheel solutions and mobile material handling equipment of Irwin Car. Irwin Car’s Industrial Technologies Group also has an in-house traction motor repair / rebuild / rewind shop that enables Irwin to be more of a “one-stop shop” and supports the railroads and transit industry with quality new and refurbished traction motors, main generators/traction alternators, auxiliary/exciter alternators, complete combo refurbishments, drive and idler bogies and wheel sets, wheel replacement and reprofiling, etc. Irwin’s Atlas Car/TMS business units also boast decades of experience and quality craftsmanship, as well as an extensive inventory or new and certified/requalified parts and components. Irwin Car’s Transit Group has seen significant growth in the last several years, highlighted by the 2023 acquisition of Gray Manufacturing Industries of Hornell, NY. This acquisition, as an addition to the Transit Group, has not only reinforced Irwin’s presence in the transit, light rail, streetcar, and heavy commuter rail markets. Prior to the 2023 acquisition of Gray Manufacturing, Irwin Car had previously added UKM Transit Products. This integration was a boon for Irwin's Transit Group, empowering it with standard and custom thresholds tailored for transit and passenger cars. UKM’s patented “Traction-First Technology” ensures durable non-slip protection. Expanding the product range further, Irwin-UKM now offers access ramps, buffers, trap doors, step-well assemblies, custom parts, and assemblies for transit cars. Not to mention, they are also venturing into pantographs, vital for supplying power to light rail, trolleys, and transit line cars. Another pillar of the Transit Group is Irwin Transportation Products and its VECOM USA division, which serves the streetcar, trolley and LRV industries. ITP and VECOM USA designs and manufactures its proprietary line of versatile T-3 track switches and signaling equipment. The acquisition of VECOM USA of Tampa has given Irwin the ability to provide comprehensive train to wayside communication systems, passenger and diagnostic information systems for light rail vehicles, etc. Irwin Car’s commitment to quality, customer service, and maintaining the shortest lead times in the industry have also helped make Irwin a go-to supplier for industries that can’t afford downtime, and all of Irwin Car’s products are Buy American compliant for rail and transit applications.
