About
About INNOVATIVE INDIA PAVILION India’s biotechnology sector is advancing rapidly, with numerous Indian companies achieving significant progress in marketing their biosimilars in developed markets. The innovation quotient in India is on the rise, evidenced by thousands of start-ups being nurtured across multiple incubators nationwide. Cutting-edge technologies are being harnessed to develop new therapies, including CGT products, mRNA vaccines, monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). The Government of India has introduced several initiatives and policies aimed at enhancing research and development and supporting biomanufacturing. A five-year National Research Fund worth approximately USD 6 billion has been launched, with a plan to finance research over a five-year period and envisaging a 60% contribution from the private sector. The Government of India launched India's First Biotechnology Policy, BIO-E3 – a policy designed to promote Biotechnology for Economy, Employment, and Environment. To implement this policy the Department of Biotechnology(DBT)will undertake several measures like setting up bio foundries at multiple locations, across India. Additionally, the Biotechnology Research Industry Assistance Council (BIRAC) continues to support entrepreneurship by providing funding at various stages for thousands of start-ups and other companies. A new entity, the Biotechnology Research Innovation Council (BRIC), has been established under the DBT to consolidate various institutes under its umbrella to create synergies. The CRDMOs and CROs sector is rapidly growing. Fuelled by global policy changes, Indian companies are experiencing increased business thanks to their efficient, high-quality services throughout the drug development cycle, from discovery to manufacturing. By leveraging effective technologies and systems, these companies successfully reduce costs for their clients through higher efficiencies. India offers a safe, efficient environment for setting up research, development, or manufacturing facilities to meet global needs. The government provides numerous incentives at both central and state levels. Each state has an investment promotion department to assist in establishing industries, and associations like IDMA, ADMI, and Pharmexcil support business and export activities. Central government departments such as DBT, ICMR, DST, Department of Health Research, Department of Pharmaceuticals, DHFW, CDSCO, MSME, DIIP, and Indian embassies worldwide, are available to help and respond to any queries from international stakeholders. We encourage companies, investors, and stakeholders to partner with Indian public and private entities. Please contact us for more details.
