About

About HEAL ITALIA FOUNDATION The Heal Italia Foundation it is established thanks to the European Union-funded project “Health Extended Alliance for Innovative Therapies, Advanced Lab-research and Integrated Approaches of Precision Medicine”. It represents today the Italian strategic cluster in the Life Sciences sector, with a specific focus on Precision Medicine. Headquartered in Palermo, Rome, and soon also in Milan and Brussels, it coordinates a multidisciplinary network of over 70 entities (see https://www.healitalia.eu/partner/) including 33 Universities, IRCCS, and companies. The goal is to share knowledge, research, and innovative technologies to support the Italian research and healthcare system in defining new models and approaches for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of chronic diseases, with primary focus on oncological, cardiovascular, metabolic, rare, and neurodegenerative conditions. The Foundation: • coordinates a network of over 600 researchers operating throughout Italy; • benefits, through its partner network, from a large project portfolio with over 250 ongoing studies, and from products and/or technologies protected by over 1000 patents; • develops new models and approaches for Precision Medicine through the use and testing of 5.0 technologies (Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Supercomputing Systems) in preclinical, clinical, and translational fields; • supports pharmaceutical research also through the first Core Facility that brings together accredited Biobanks, GMP, Data Networks, and Cell Factories; • launched in 2023 the first National PhD Program in Precision Medicine. Acting as a Fund Agency, supports the acquisition of specific funds and grants for researchers and/or startups working on innovative projects in precision medicine. It also directly finances research projects and startups to promote applied research and technology transfer, accelerating the development and commercialization of advanced technological solutions.
