About Green Steel Environmental Green Steel Environmental produces a cleantech product that sequesters phosphorus and sulfur from digesters -- before they become an environmental and operations problem. The core of its material is upcycled steel slag, an iron-rich byproduct from steel manufacturing that can replace the effectiveness of ferric and alum for phosphorus and H₂S control. Not only can Green Steel PSR™ reduce dependence and spend on chemical treatment, it can provide an economic step change in O&M overhead, as well as environmental benefits. Green Steel PSR is an upcycled, clean-tech additive that dramatically improves how phosphorus and sulfur are removed from wastewater plants. Our material is a natural replacement for hazardous chemicals like ferric chloride, ferric sulfate and aluminum sulfate. As an added benefit, we remove sulfur in your digester before it becomes hydrogen sulfide…which controls odor and significantly drops the load on your sulfur scrubbing equipment. It also provides a slight pH increase, which will reduce your costs on other pH amendments.
