About CryoCrate CryoCrate is an NIH Innovation Showcase company advancing next-generation tissue cryopreservation and tissue engineering technologies, supported by 12 NIH and DoD awards. The company has developed a first-in-class biocompatible preservation platform based on proprietary nano ice formation and glycocalyx-mediated mechanisms. Unlike conventional approaches, CryoCrate’s polysaccharide-based formulation is free of small-molecule permeating cryoprotectants, enabling preservation without compromising structural integrity or cellular function. This platform supports cryopreservation of ocular tissues, particularly corneal grafts, as well as skin and a wide range of cell types for transplantation and clinical biobanking. In parallel, its glycocalyx-targeted approach enhances wound healing and supports tissue engineering applications, positioning CryoCrate at the intersection of regenerative medicine and transplantation.
