About California Association of Nurse Anesthesiology The California Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (CANA) is the state professional association for Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), also known as nurse anesthesiologists. CRNAs are Advanced Practice Nurses who provide quality anesthesia care and services in every patient setting, including dental offices. Since 1931, CANA's mission has been to advance patient safety, foster access to the highest quality anesthesia, and support the nurse anesthesia profession.
