As a U.S. domestic producer, Calca Solutions’ hydrazine has fueled those propellant systems for as long as America has explored space. For more than 70 years, the site at Calca Solutions has built an enduring legacy of innovation, reliability, and stewardship in hydrazine manufacturing. Calca Solutions produces UltraPure Hydrazine, fueling satellite propulsion and space exploration as part of the company's rich history. Supporting programming for NASA, Calca Solutions hydrazine propellant fuel was also used for more recent well-known projects such as the Mars exploration rovers and the James Webb Space Telescope. Additional use of hydrazine products is found in F-16s in the emergency power unit (EPU), specifically, H-70. The EPU is fueled with this mono-propellant hydrazine mixture, containing 70% hydrazine (N2H4), 30% water, by weight. The F-16 is flown by the active-duty USAF, Air Force Reserve, and Air National Guard units, the USAF aerial demonstration team, the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, and as an adversary-aggressor aircraft. Monomethylhydrazine, MMH, is used as a rocket propellant in bipropellant rocket engines. With this product being hypergolic with various oxidizers such as nitrogen tetroxide (N2O4) and nitric acid (HNO3), this makes MMH a perfect choice. Maximum performance can also be realized as this propellant system can be utilized under a myriad of temperatures. In addition to propellants, hydrazine solutions provide support for industries such as agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and water treatment. The variety of blends ranges from 64% to 54.4% and 35% to 15.5%, and each blend is made to order and available in bulk or an array of packaging selections. For water treatment, Calca Solutions Hydrazine can provide corrosion protection. Many significant pharmaceuticals produced by the world’s leading drug firms are derived from hydrazine. Modern agriculture requires crop protection, and some of the important crop protection chemicals produced by the world’s leading agricultural firms are derived from hydrazine.
