About
About ARFF Working Group The Aircraft Rescue & Fire Fighting Working Group (ARFFWG) was established to promote the science and improve the methods of aviation fire protection and prevention. The organization exists primarily for the benefit of fire protection personnel who work at airports or work with aircraft or who can reasonably be expected to become involved with some type of aviation/aircraft related emergency event. The ARFFWG is a non- profit membership organization established for the purpose of information exchange between airport firefighters, ARFF equipment manufacturers, municipal fire departments and other concerning ARFF related issues. The ARFFWG exists to discuss and analyze procedures to be utilized when dealing with aviation related concerns. The ARFFWG is a leader in aviation firefighting techniques, and is a clearinghouse for information which has been found to be of operational benefit to the airport fire services.Membership in the ARFFWG provides a vehicle for all those concerned with aviation fire safety. We have created efficient access to information by the development of information cross-feeds in areas such as training, facilities, operational procedures, investigative information, as well as additional information areas that may become more evident as the science of aircraft rescue and firefighting continues to develop.A major effort of the ARFFWG is standardized personnel training. Nationwide continuity of operations should be achieved so that higher recognition can be expected from the pilots and airport management groups regarding aviation fire protection. The ARFFWG Annual Symposium is the largest aviation firefighting conference in the world. No other professional organization offers the high degree of training and networking in the aviation fire fighting field than the ARFFWG . The opportunity to “Share the Knowledge” with hundreds of firefighters and industry experts from airports and organizations around the world is unprecedented.
