About Alabama Department of Commerce x As the state’s lead economic development agency, the Alabama Department of Commerce works with its allies to fulfill the objectives of Catalyst, the state’s strategic economic development growth plan. We recruit world-class companies to the state and help existing businesses grow. In this capacity, we have helped advance the growth plans of companies such as Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Hyundai, Toyota, Mazda, Airbus, Boeing, and Google. Commerce promotes exporting and international investment opportunities for Alabama businesses and assists small businesses. We are home to the state’s primary non-education workforce development programs, including AIDT, a nationally recognized job-training agency. Alabama is a leader in automotive production. From finding available sites and buildings to negotiating incentives packages, Alabama has you covered. Alabama is a top five automotive manufacturing state with five OEMs Mercedes, Honda, Hyundai, Toyota and Mazda. 15 different cars, SUVs and trucks, including, all-electric vehicles. The European Office of the Alabama Department of Commerce maintains relations with European companies and promotes trade between Alabama and European industries. OEMs have invested heavily in Electric Vehicles, EV Technologies and battery manufacturing in recent years. Alabama attract foreign investment in EV technology, infrastructure, and manufacturing beside others with: - Alabama Mobility and Power (AMP) center - Alabama is building a $30 million workforce training center wiht focus on electric vehicles - EV Workforce Strategy Alabama We also support companies on the great advantages and opportunities stemming from a potential investment in Alabama. We also actively support employee recruitment and training at no cost to the company. The Alabama Department of Commerce is the state’s lead agency for business recruitment and expansion, driving growth across advanced manufacturing, automotive, electric vehicle, and battery sectors. Alabama is home to five global automakers—Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Hyundai, and Mazda Toyota—and over 200 Tier 1 and 2 suppliers, producing more than 1.3 million vehicles annually, including multiple EV models. We partner with industry to deliver tailored incentive packages, streamlined permitting, and connections to world-class infrastructure, from the Port of Mobile to an extensive interstate and rail network. In collaboration with Alabama Industrial Development Training and the Alabama Mobility and Power Center, we provide a highly skilled workforce and cutting-edge R&D in battery technologies.
