KITS plays a critical role in the growth and development of knowledge-based industry in the State of Karnataka. The organization strives towards building the brand equity of the State and its capital city Bengaluru as the most preferred destination in India for investment in this sector. Amongst other things, KITS assists the Department of Electronics, IT, BT and S&T in administering incentives and concessions, implementing the policies and programmes of the Government, organizing Trade Shows, Conferences, Symposia, Seminars etc., and undertaking all promotional activities that helps in developing these sectors in the State. It also acts as a protocol agency of the Department, for coordinating the visits of National & International dignitaries, foreign delegations, business delegation and other dignitaries visiting the state. KITS thus acts as the facilitator for promoting IT, BT and Nanotech Industries in the State.
