The Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) is a supranational organization that welcomes participation from national, territorial, and subspecialty-based ophthalmic societies in the Asia-Pacific. As of April 2025, the APAO membership boasts 27 national/ territorial societies and 12 subspecialty societies. Together, we represent almost 120,000 ophthalmologists across the region, accounting for approximately 59% of the global ophthalmology community. With a mission to promote the science and art of ophthalmology, we strive to eliminate preventable blindness in the region through teaching, research and service. We also organize an annual congress and publish the Asia-Pacific Journal of Ophthalmology to foster international professional collaborations.
Arbele
Arbele is a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company developing targeted immunotherapy to treat gastrointestinal cancers including colorectal, gastric, pancreatic, hepatic and esophageal cancers. Cabotamig (ARB202), a CDH17/CD3 bispecific BiTE molecule has shown good safety profiles and demonstrated target engagement with antitumor activities. Subsequent lines of therapeutics are ARB203 BiTE, ARB102 ADC, and ARB011 CAR expect to enter IND and clinical stages in 2024/25. To detect and intercept cancer development and progressions, our diagnostic affiliate has developed companion tissue diagnostics for anti-CDH17 therapies as well as proprietary liquid biopsy immunoassays. The company welcomes strategic licensing partnership to accelerate multicenter clinical studies and business expansion globally. | Arbele is a CDH17-pioneer biotech company spearheading potential first-in-class/best-in-class immunotherapies (TCE and ADC) to treat pancreatic and advanced colorectal cancers (2L+). To accelerate the clinical development regulatory pathway, TibTech (an associated Medtech company) has established companion diagnostic platforms to test CA17 expression levels for both tissues and blood samples. Strategic partnerships with BioAI Healthcare and IVD companies position us at a leading competitor over other players.

Allegrow Biotech Limited
Allegrow Biotech started as a spinoff start-up from the biomaterials laboratory at the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology, specialising in modulating and manipulating immune cells using biomaterial-based approaches. We are combining our biomaterials, drug delivery and immunomodulation know-how to address various bottlenecks in immune cell research and therapeutic manufacturing. Our AimGel technology is a hydrogel-based artificial cell platform that is synthetic and scalable, and could mimic various cell types. AimGel artificial cells activate and expand immune cells with unprecedented signal fidelity, bypassing current limitations in both synthetic and cell-based solutions. At the heart of our AimGel technology is our proprietary lipid coating that recreates the fluidity of cell membranes, allowing us to mimic natural cell-cell interactions. This technological leap means AimGel performs better in both quality and quantity, producing more robust cells (higher viability, more memory subtypes and less exhaustion) in a shorter time frame. This biomimicry also enables the expansion of underserved cell types such as natural killer cells and regulatory T cells, paving the way for bleeding edge cell therapies to get from the benchside to the bedside. Being hydrogel-based, AimGel artificial cells are programmed to degrade at desired timepoints, negating the need for complex removal steps, integrating seamlessly into existing workflows. The mission is to leverage our AimGel platform to enable & accelerate cell therapy R&D, clinical translation and ultimately, production.
