The Contracts & Acquisitions team is responsible for all purchasing and subcontracts. Our scientists conduct basic, hypothesis-driven research and collaborative studies that span a wide range, including genetics, genomics, protein science, proteomics, bioinformatics, high-performance biomedical computing, laboratory animal sciences, and clinical operations. The Frederick National Laboratory serves as the hub-and-spoke model that reaches out to academic, commercial, government, and nonprofit organizations across the country in a united effort. As a shared national resource, we offer access to a suite of advanced biomedical technologies, provide selected science and technology services, and maintain vast repositories of research materials available to biomedical investigators nationwide. These research materials include more than 15 million biological specimens, frozen tumor samples, research reagents, and genetically engineered mouse models of human cancers. The Frederick National Laboratory provides rapid response to emerging health threats, mobilizing effective resources to address disease outbreaks and investigate newly recognized pathogens. We also monitor more than 400 ongoing human clinical trials in the United States and overseas. The laboratory is accelerating progress in the fight against cancer, AIDS, and other infectious diseases; stimulating research collaborations; and creating opportunities for technology transfer and business and economic development. These activities represent the necessary investment to maximize the benefits of scientific discovery and innovation on human health.
