Asthma and COPD are some of the only major diseases where we routinely escalate to costly therapies or avoidable health-costs (ER visits, hospitalizations), without confirming whether the inhaled treatment was even used correctly. In cardiology or oncology, we verify before we escalate. But for these respiratory diseases? We guess. In many cases, it’s not the standard inhaled medicine that fails. It’s the inhaler technique adherence—and no one knows it’s wrong. Our product, Kata®, makes the invisible visible. It’s the first AI-powered medical device application that teaches, monitors and coaches inhaler use in real time, for any inhaler, on any smartphone, no hardware required. It’s FDA-cleared, CE-marked, and works offline, also in homes where broadband access isn’t guaranteed. Already used by over 1,500 patients in Germany, Kata is delivering real-world outcomes. For patients and pharmaceutical companies, it means better therapy control and less risks. For providers, less liability and new billing revenue. For payers, an impressive ROI and a defensible path before escalation. We are discussing a demonstration pilot in the US, reached 1,500+ users in Germany, and are building partnerships with U.S. payers. We are particularly interested in expanding to US asthma and COPD patient populations where the unmet need and health inequities are high. Today, there’s still no scalable way to confirm whether inhalers are being used correctly before escalating to high-cost therapies or complications occur.
