Alcor Life Extension Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1972 and based in Scottsdale, Arizona. Alcor provides cryopreservation services to individuals who elect this option as part of their advance end-of-life planning. After legal death is declared, Alcor initiates a coordinated medical response that includes stabilization, surgical perfusion with cryoprotective agents, and cooling to -196°C for long-term storage in liquid nitrogen. All procedures are conducted in compliance with applicable regulations. Alcor works in partnership with licensed funeral professionals to ensure proper documentation, transport coordination, and chain-of-custody standards. Members arrange and fund services in advance, similar to traditional pre-need planning.
