Calyx
After a decade of bio-materials engineering research at U.C. Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Calyx was spun out with the mission to apply advanced bio-materials to low-cost power-efficient sensors for the detection and characterization of airborne chemical compounds. Calyx is a deep-tech company developed advanced sensors and computer vision technology for animal growth monitoring. Calyx has patented a whole new paradigm in sensors, using engineered proteins to detect gases. Our bio-sensors are accurate and durable, and can detect a wide variety of compounds. While receiving interest from various industries, we are now focusing on providing an integrated solution to environmental management in the animal farming industry. Though animal farming will be our beachhead market for the next 18–24 months, long-term, our roadmap foresees BioMEMS sensors providing solutions to numerous consumer and industry problems.
BioChek
Since 1997, BioChek has been supporting the poultry and swine industries to help improve livestock productivity and promote animal health. BioChek’s extensive portfolio of veterinary diagnostics is used worldwide to detect a wide range of poultry and swine diseases. Our head office is based in the Netherlands, and we have an R&D department and production facility in the UK, a USDA-licensed facility in the USA, a regional office in South Africa, regional and local sales teams, and numerous distributors across the globe.
