Smith Myers

Smith Myers is an award-winning UK based and UK owned company in its 36th year of specialising in the design, development, manufacture, and support of mobile phone location systems, for Network Operators, Government Agencies, Law Enforcement, Military, and Search & Rescue (SAR) organisations. Smith Myers ARTEMIS offers a comprehensive airborne mobile phone detection, location and communication solution empowering various applications, including Search and Rescue, Border Control, Maritime Patrol, Disaster Response, Law Enforcement & Defence. ARTEMIS eschews traditional direction-finding techniques which are often slow, less accurate over long ranges, impacted by environmental factors and demand multiple antennas. Instead, it relies on two independent and proprietary Cellular Geolocation methods. The first leverages GPS, while the second is based on the Cellular Protocol. These techniques operate automatically, delivering swift and precise results through just two compact blade antennas. Unlike DF based systems this means that ARTEMIS can rapidly detect, locate, and communicate with thousands of mobile phones. ARTEMIS has been specifically designed to achieve accurate mobile phone localization in challenging airborne scenarios. Complementing various hardware options, ARTEMIS excels in detecting phones at extended ranges and boasts unique features such as mass-mapping and geofencing to minimize crew workload. The system operates with automation, speed, and exceptional accuracy, enabling prompt and positive outcomes, even in low light or Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC). Several of the ARTEMIS systems ingeniously combine a high-sensitivity Dual Channel AIS receiver for simultaneous fusion of cellular and vessel identification offering a powerful Maritime Patrol capability. In addition, this system boasts an integral COSPAS SARSAT receiver capable of identifying, decoding and locating Emergency Locator and Personal Locator Beacons offering SAR & C-SAR a truly unique multi-purpose system. ARTEMIS is available in several different packages, qualified to the highest standards of DO-160(G). As an essential and non-negotiable aspect of the aviation industry. Our extensive testing ensures that airborne equipment is capable of withstanding the diverse and demanding environmental conditions experienced during flight. By adhering to these rigorous testing procedures, integrators can meet regulatory requirements, enhance aviation safety, and minimize maintenance costs. The extensive knowledge and expertise of the Smith Myers team have produced a range of industry leading equipment that outperforms any other system in size, weight, range, and accuracy. These efforts have been repeatedly rewarded by Artemis’s selection by major SAR agencies around the world. Smith Myers ARTEMIS – The choice of professionals and the only system capable of geolocating mobile phones on 2G, 3G, 4G & 5G. | ARTEMIS, an award winning Mobile Phone Detection and Location Sensor (MPDLS) designed specifically for airborne SAR/Disaster Relief/Firefighting/ISR. A result of 39 years of innovative leading-edge cellular design expertise by Smith Myers. Fully flight approved equipment offering a radical and effective support to traditional airborne sensors, including automatic cueing of EO/IR, tracking of multiple (hundreds) tracks. Easily integrated in to any avionics system, including ATAK or stand alone. Available in several SWaP configurations for manned, unmanned, rotary and fixed wing platforms. In daily use saving lives around the world with national SAR and Coastguard agencies.
