WALTERWERK KIEL GmbH & Co. KG

WALTERWERK KIEL is a leading manufacturer of industrial wafer baking machines for sweet wafers, Monaka wafers and savoury snacks. Wafer baking machines are our business and our passion. For more than 70 years we focus on high quality baking lines for the production of sweets wafers, Monaka and snacks. Our WALTER wafer baking machines produce in almost 90 countries around the globe. Our company is situated in Kiel/Germany where all machines are designed, built and tested to ensure our quality Made in Germany. WALTER offers three main machine lines: JUPITER for sweet wafers, MARS for baked moulded products and the latest development METEOR for baked chips. A high variety of oven sizes provide a customized machine configuration depending on the customers’ preferences regarding products and capacities. WALTER offers more than 50 oven variations depending on the customer’s wishes. The smallest JUPITER machines for rolled sugar cones produces 3,000 rolled sugar cones per hour. The biggest high speed machine JUPITER C 20-306 has an output of approx. 20,000 sugar cones per hour. For capacities inside this spectrum various oven sizes exist. Our JUPITER plant produce rolled sugar cones for industrial ice cream production as well as for the delivery of ice cream parlours. Furthermore, our JUPITER plants can produce wafer rolls, wafer cups or wafer discs. Thanks to the modular system you can produce several products with one machine. This flexibility is highly appreciated by our customers. The MARS C series produces Monaka wafers in high capacities up to 20,000 baked moulded wafers per hour. The Monaka wafer is a traditional wafer product in Asia filled with a sweets paste. New fillings like cream, aerated chocolate or ice cream helped the Monaka wafer to find its way to Markets outside of Asia. The chosen principle with separate cavities allows the baking of single products without having to cut or punch them out. Being based on the JUPITER C technology the MARS series beats the existing technology by a mile in energy consumption, process-related overdosing, labour utilization and waste rate. The METEOR line is the latest development of WALTER. The plant produces healthy snacks high in taste – low in fat content. The snack products can be adapted individually to the snack producers’ wishes. Since the products are baked between two baking tongs they have a special structure which can either be foamier or crispier. It depends on the baking process and the recipe. Product thickness and product shape can be influenced as well. There are many possibilities and recipes but they all have one thing in common: the fat content is very low. Seasoned products with standard recipes contain 65 % less fat than fried potato chips.
