Trilogy of the Magi is a 3-in-1 book on the lives of the royal travelers of Christmas lore. Melchior’s book begins in Rome, Italy, when Herod is also there being crowned the king of Judea, Parea and Galilee. Eventually, Melchior will meet up with other travelers and find his way to Bethlehem–making this the traditional Christmas story. Balthazar’s book begins 20 years after following the star with his capture by Bedouin tribesmen under orders of Herod II. Later, Balthazar will endure a crisis of faith towards the end of that middle book. Gaspar’s book is an Easter story and the several months after that most glorious of days. He and his servant Raheeb move into Jerusalem in a slow-moving cavalcade that today we would call the Palm Sunday procession. They hear tales of extraordinary events happening in the land. No one says the name of Jesus, as other travelers talk of a man feeding 5,000 people with a few loaves and fish. Another group speaks of a magician who brought a man back to life! King Gaspar rejects that story because how could a magician possibly bring a man back to life? Always a few hours behind Jesus, King Gaspar is unable to use his royal authority to stop the crucifixion–as no man could do, of course. Events will transpire which force him and Raheeb to flee Jerusalem. That third book continues on for a number of months. Therefore, winter, spring, summer, or fall extraordinary events happen in this trilogy about the three magi. Readers tell the author, Kathryn Muehlheausler, that her book is awesome, many reread it multiple times, several people have told her Trilogy of the Magi is “the best book I ever read.” The purpose of being here at NRB is for her to seek a director to make, in particular, Gaspar’s book into a movie.
