FONEMZ: Speak & Read is an evidence-based program dedicated to improving focus in the instruction of phonemic awareness, speech sound production, spelling, and reading learning. Multimodal activities that utilize color and distinctive shapes that represent each of the 40 primary sounds in English make up the fun, interactive, multi-sensory activities that solidify learning. This is the essence of FONEMZ: Students from 9 months to 90+ years can progress from the recognition and production of individual sounds to syllable words and ultimately be able to transition to the spelling and reading of words using the FONZABET.

Baylor University’s Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) seeks to educate men and women for worldwide leadership and service in speech-language pathology, audiology, and ASL by integrating academic excellence, clinical experiences, research, and community service. Housed within a Christian R1 research institution, Baylor CSD is home to undergraduate and graduate academic programs and the Baylor Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic.
