About

About Nexel NEXEL is a biotech company founded in 2012, specializing in human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) technology. Leveraging our proprietary hiPSC differentiation platform, we have commercialized functional cell models—including 2D monolayers and 3D organoids—that can be used for drug screening and evaluation in the drug development process. NEXEL is open to potential collaborations for the development of New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) in drug development, utilizing our hiPSC-based products and services. 1. NEXEL’s Products and Services 1) 2D Monolayer Cell Products for Drug Screening and Evaluation Since launching its hiPSC-derived cardiomyocytes (Cardiosight-S), hepatocytes (Hepatosight-S), and neurons (Neurosight-S) in 2017, NEXEL has been globally distributing these cell products. Our flagship product, Cardiosight-S, has consistently received feedback from users highlighting its superior performance in drug evaluation and minimal lot-to-lot variation compared to other commercial cardiomyocytes. 2) Organoid Models for Drug Screening and Evaluation NEXEL has developed two types of cardiac organoids: Cardiac organoids composed of highly purified cardiomyocytes through hiPSC self-organization. Heart organoids composed of cardiomyocytes, cardiac fibroblasts, and vascular cells. These models are described in detail in our recent publication (10.1038/s41419-024-06703-9) and are available for global distribution in cryopreserved format. 3) Customized hiPSC Differentiation and Disease Modeling NEXEL offers custom production of various hiPSC-derived cell models (including 2D monolayers and organoids) from user-specified hiPSC lines—wild-type, patient-derived, or CRISPR-edited. All models are provided as frozen vials for ease of use. 4) Cardiac Safety Assessment Using hiPSC-Derived Cardiomyocytes (Cardiosight-S) NEXEL provides cardiac safety evaluation services based on the CiPA (Comprehensive in vitro Proarrhythmia Assay) framework. Our assay is standardized with ISO 17025 accreditation, and we have evaluated over 100 investigational drugs to date, delivering detailed study reports to clients. 2. NEXEL’s Business Hub Headquarters: NEXEL, Seoul, Korea (covering the Asia region) Subsidiary: Celogics, Seattle, USA (covering North America and Europe)
