About IFTH – Institut Français du Textile et de l'Habillement The IFTH is the Technical Institute for Textiles and Clothing (CTI) in France, established with a mission of general interest: the scientific and technical development of fashion and textile sectors, including technical aspects. It is the only technological center with a dual purpose: providing technical, technological, and specific solutions to companies' challenges, and feed the textile ecosystem to promote growth, sustainable development, and the relocation of activities within the territory. IFTH operates throughout the lifecycle and transformation of fashion and textile products, supporting French textile brands and industries through about ten research laboratories and technical platforms, with 145 employees leveraging multidisciplinary expertise and know-how in materials, textiles, chemistry, digital technologies, and more. IN FRANCE, IFTH, IS THE ONLY FILIER INVESTED IN THE ENTIRE RECYCLING SECTOR : -Mechanical process : defibration to obtain new recycled fibers that can be carded or Airlaid for further processing into yarns or nonwovens; Thermo-mechanical process : material melting by extrusion-spinning to obtain mono-filament or multi-filament, essential for recycling synthetic materials; Chemical/enzymatic (in collaboration): selective dissolution or depolymerization of textile components for separation or recycling into new quality yarns. IFTH mobilizes unique recycling skills at every stage of the textile-fashion value chain, from material preparation to the various recycling technologies (the 3 previously mentioned!). IFTH is involved in major collective research projects such as CASTTOR , WhiteCycle, SOLSTICE and STAR3, paving the way for ever more effective solutions.
