About
About Hop Research Council The Hop Research Council is a non-profit organization that funds and directs hop research to benefit the U.S. hop industry. Members include brewers, hop merchants, and hop grower organizations. The Council also offers associate and sponsor memberships. The Council was established in 1979 by a group of hop industry members that believed in the benefit of a united hop research effort. Today, the original goal remains true. Brewers, Dealers, and Growers work together to fund and direct hop research, ensuring a bright future for the U.S. hop industry. The Hop Research Council funds research projects in the areas of plant pathology, agronomic research, public hop breeding, entomology, and brewing research. The Council's hop breeding program develops public hop varieties that are available for all hop growers to produce and for all brewers to use. The newest public hop variety, 'Vera' was released in 2025 with the aroma notes of Mango, Peach, and Tropical Citrus Punch.
