About
About EFG Polymers LLC EFG Polymers markets the EF Global Group's proprietary recovered rubber elastomer, EFG-SBE (Styrene Butadiene Elastomer). EFG-SBE is over 90% recycled material from EOL waste rubber, principally tire derived material. The EFG low temperature chemical resource recovery process is fast (less than 15 minutes) and recovers typically >85% of the properties of the original compound. In rubber applications, EFG-SBE is a functional black masterbatch and can be used at rations to 100% or simply added on top of formulations at significant ratios to reduce cost, shorten curing time or increase sustainability. Customers have used ratios up to 50% in tread compounds while maintaining product specifications. EFG-SBE is also very successfully used by a sister company, EFG TieTek (www.efgtietek.com) to manufacture composite railway crossties/sleepers, producing the best performing sleepers in the world with a life expectancy of over 50 years and can be fully recycled at the EOL. Exceeding all AREMA standards, fully stable at very high and very low temperatures, the EFG TieTek sleeper is not susceptible to insects, water/rot or chemicals. The operational performance provides over double the weight bearing capacity of alternative product, absorbs noise and vibration and provides exceptional spike/screw retention thus reducing maintenance costs. EFG SBE is also a low cost, superior performance polymer modifier for asphalt both in roofing and road paving applications. Installations of EFG SBE polymer modified asphalt replacing virgin polymers such as SBS, were highly successful with projects in Arizona and Kuwait. In these projects, in very demanding sites, after six years no maintenance has been required despite heavy traffic and very high temperatures. EFG SBE also has very large developing markets in polymer modified asphalt roofing, providing over fifteen benefits while reducing costs, providing sustainability, stable viscosity and increasing haul distances and premixing flexibility.
