About

About Bioforcetech Corporation We are innovators in organics management, specializing in transforming waste into carbon-negative solutions with a wide range of applications. By using biological drying and advanced patented pyrolysis technology to convert biosolids into OurCarbon®, a sustainable biochar used in concrete mixes, inks, and other materials. Our process addresses pressing environmental concerns, such as the reduction of PFAS, or "forever chemicals," to undetectable levels. By aligning with circular economy principles and offering scalable solutions, we are at the forefront of waste management and sustainable material development, paving the way for impactful climate solutions. Bioforcetech (BFT) was founded in 2012, and has approximately 30 employees working in the US and Italy. BFT has successfully scaled their biological dryer (BFT BioDryer) and hybrid pyrolysis unit (BFT Sigma One) for use in drying and carbonizing municipal biosolids. BFT has deployed these units in the US and Europe as the first biosolids biochar producers at full scale in the US since 2017. The first installation of this technology was at Silicon Valley Clean Water in the Bay Area of California. As a technology company installed in a heavily regulated air district to process a difficult, low heating value, contaminated material through a novel technology, Bioforcetech has been the first of a kind throughout the company’s lifetime for many aspects of the technology and material output. Today, BFT is proud to be permitted in the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, EPA exempted as a non-incineration process, published by the EPA and third parties to remove/destroy PFAS, PFOA, PFOS from biosolids, and utilizing the output biochar from the BFT system, OurCarbon®, in applications ranging from concrete to inks and coatings. Today, Bioforcetech has installed over 22 projects between Italy and USA processing municipal biosolids. Of these 22 projects, five of them utilize pyrolysis after BioDrying, while the other 17 are solely BFT BioDryers. As the SigmaOne was developed years after the BioDryer reached maturity, this follows a natural scaling progression for the company. In fall of 2024, independent testing by Brown and Caldwell confirmed BFT’s Sigma Pyrolysis system achieved 99.98% PFAS removal across all output streams, including biochar, discharge water, and exhaust gases. The results, consistent with findings by the EPA and Bioforcetech internal testing conducted in years past, were confirmed by Brown and Caldwell following testing at Silicon Valley Clean Water. This study involved the most in-depth sampling yet, sampling at eight points throughout the Bioforcetech process and measuring PFAS concentrations in various outputs.
