About Unit Drop Forge Co Inc Unit Drop Forge (UDF) is an AAR M 1002/M 1003 certified manufacturer serving Class I, II, and III railroads, new car builders, repair facilities, and distributors. We are certified under AAR Activity Code B4 for forged railcar center plates and Activity Code B85 for forged pressure retaining tank car components. In addition, UDF supplies draft lugs, various forged freight car components, and precision forgings for passenger rail, light rail, and locomotive applications. Located in West Allis, Wisconsin, UDF supports a diverse range of industries—including Off Highway, Construction, Railroad, Energy, Compressor, Mining, Defense, and Agriculture—with a legacy of craftsmanship dating back to 1918. Our facility leverages advanced forging technologies and modern engineering tools to deliver consistent quality and performance. UDF produces forged components ranging from 10 to 315 pounds across multiple material grades such as carbon, alloy, microalloy, and stainless steel. We also offer value added capabilities through in-house CNC machining, enabling customers to receive fully finished components ready for assembly.
